Proud of Aaron for seeking out and making it through lifeguard training. It was several weeks of being on time, paying attention, and soaking up information, culminating in taking and passing a battery of tests. He's now certified and on his way to his first job, and a pretty good paying one at that.
He's excited about the money and what he can buy with it, but I'm beaming about a job well done in going through the certification process and the life lessons he'll invariably gain from his first experience of employment. Most adults I know, myself included, can easily call to mind things they learned as a result of their first job. Aaron will, too.
Without saying too much, high school has been rough for Aaron. He's had his bright spots but also many bumpy patches. In the midst of that, stringing together the week in and week out discipline to make it to and through lifeguard training is an accomplishment worth celebrating. So we're celebrating!
