Last Sunday we moved Jada into her dorm at Drexel. Logistically, it was a bit of a blur: in the pouring rain, we loaded the car, made our way through the maze of other families, got her stuff up to her room, and largely left her be to make the place her home for the next academic year. Emotionally, it was a mix of pride and pain, delighting in seeing her soar into this new chapter of her life and lamenting the end of seeing her on a daily basis.
As they say when you are in the throes of parenting: the days are long but the years are short. In a blink, sleepless nights and tears and a million hugs have given way to a grown woman forging her own path. We are deeply honored to have walked with her thus far and to cheer her on from here.
