This past weekend was Asher's first foray into a pool, as he and I are taking his first swim lesson at the Y near Jada's choir practice. He liked the water when we were in the ocean at Rehoboth Beach, so it wasn't a totally new experience, but it had some scary parts, such as being fully in the water all the way up to his head and being held by someone besides me (the instructor, for a few seconds, while we were learning different safety grips). So the tears and howls were aplenty.
But that's to be expected with this first exposure. Hopefully this is the start of a lifelong love of being in the water, whether for exercise or play. At the very least, it is a necessary set of lessons for his personal safety.
