Dads, Daughters, and Donuts

In the run-up to her 5-K race next weekend, Jada has been training with me once a week.  Each week we go a little longer.  But most weeks, we end the same way: with a splurge at Federal Donuts.  You may smirk at the irony of topping off so healthy an activity as jogging in the brisk morning air with so unhealthy an activity as pigging out on rich donuts.  I choose to think of the fond memories we're making: the pleasure of running followed by the pleasure of donuts, and all within the context of some quality father-daughter time.  Not a bad routine, and maybe we'll keep doing it even if there isn't a 5-K to look forward to.
