The Greening of Jada's Diet
Ever so slowly, we are getting Jada to eat some veggies. I've taken a scorched earth approach: veggies first, then fruit, then everything else. So no more loading up on carbs and leaving the green stuff untouched. So for example, last night's dinner including the following courses (in order):
* Carrot stick and cucumber slice
* Six pieces of pear and three pieces of peach
* Six strawberries
* A piece of grilled chicken breast
* Some cinnamon bread
By the way, in case you're wondering about the boy, his vegetable intake isn't that great either, and he's making progress as well: he had the same menu, except substitute a hamburger for the chicken, and a sliver of berry pie for the cinnamon bread. Hot box that he is, he also downed a half-cup of juice, a half-cup of milk, and a half-cup of water.
I recognize that soon we will be making weekly runs to a warehouse club and requiring a second freezer unit to house all the food we will need for our two growing children. I'm fine with that, so long as fruits and veggies are a big part of that diet. I guess that's why we're trying so persistently now, despite such a long period of anti-vegetable protests.
