On the First Weekend of Halloween

A lot of Halloween antics this past weekend, in preparation for the real deal next weekend. Amy spearheaded the full use of a pumpkin we secured from our friend's membership in a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture): the kids picked seeds out of the pulp while she salvaged as much flesh as possible and made a jack-o-lantern out of the rest. And I took the kids to Boo at the Zoo, where, despite the dreary weather, the kids had fun getting candy and knick-knacks. Next weekend will bring our annual neighborhood parade, plus a get-together with our small group of church families, and perhaps a few more candy bars. Good times all around.
