I had to race home this morning to talk to our plumber about some possible work on our house, so my walk home took me past Jada and Aaron's school. Sure enough, just as I was passing on the opposite side of the street, Jada's class was returning from a walk. I yelled across traffic to Jada, and as soon as she saw me, she tried to extricate herself from the human chain and dash over to me. Thankfully, a teacher grabbed her by the hand; who knows if she would've darted into the street and into traffic. Note to self: next time, just look over and go on your way.
