The books in our house are in a terror because someone has escalated
from "spree" status to "serial" status in their systematic ripping of
pages. I'll carefully patch up the torn pages, only to have our
perpetrator strike again on the same book, often the very same page.
Since all the victims have a similar profile - childrens' books - and
all the crimes exhibit a similar pattern - books torn in the middle of
the night - we've begun to develop a profile of our perpetrator: two
years old, likes to bring books into bed with her, otherwise innocent
looking during the day. Anyone who has information on a possible
suspect, please let us know before more books get victimized.
