Break Out the Beach Toys

After a gorgeous 70+ degree day on Wednesday, we were blindsided by a
wintry mix that resulted in 3-4 inches of snow on the ground by
Saturday morning. Jada and I decided to make the most of it. While
Amy stayed home and made pizza, we hit the local park, slip sliding
the whole way. We marveled at people of all ages skidding down big
hills on all kinds of sled contraptions.

Then we came home and busted out the beach toys and made "snow
castles." Jada dutifully shoveled the white stuff into her pail and
patted it down, and I flipped it over. We went on for over an hour
and a half, her resisting about a half dozen attempts by me to bring
us inside. Finally, friends of ours came over for lunch so she agreed
to put her beach toys away.

Needless to say, it was a rip roaring good time. Although I look
forward to going to the beach this summer, when we can use those same
beach toys, but not on snow in 30 degree weather, but on sand in 80
degree weather. And I'm sure Jada will resist with equal force then
when it's time for us to go inside.
