We have played peek-a-boo. I have cleaned and refilled seven bottles of formula. She has banged a rattle on a booster seat tray. I have checked my email about seventeen times and caught up on two weeks of sports sites and friend blogs. We have rocked, sang, hugged, and kissed. But from midnight to now, one thing we haven’t done, except for her nodding off for about twenty minutes and me for twenty seconds, is be asleep. It’s almost five o’clock; time for me to start the day.
