Is it too late for New Year's resolutions? Here's hoping 2022 is the year Asher learns how to read. Many of his peers, whether family, friends, or classmates, have long known how to read, and some have graduated to Harry Potter level sophistication. Meanwhile, Asher is still working on the literal building blocks of reading, which are recognizing all the letters and knowing what sounds they make.
I have read to him every night for probably 98 to 99 percent of his life (the 1 to 2 percent being the few times I'm out of town or otherwise not home for bedtime), but he adores being read to by everyone besides me: teachers, siblings, and even other kids. So we have certainly imparted upon him the habit and love. Waiting and anticipating (and doing some flash cards every night) for the building blocks to kick in and the reading to commence. Will keep you posted!
