Camp, One Year Later

Sleepaway camp last year was bumpy for Asher. He had behavioral issues all throughout, barely making it through his first and fourth week, getting kicked out the second week, and not allowed to attend his third week. He lost a lot of clothes and struggled to make friends. Some fun was had but peppered with a lot of time he'd rather have back.

Fast forward a year and it's been much better. Being more mature, being on medications, and having a year under his belt has clearly made a difference. I also give credit to his camp counselor, who was so patient with him last year, prayed for him all year, and really looked out for him this year. I would not be surprised if that counselor was an angel in disguise.

It's good to have Asher back home although it was fun to have him away, especially since he had so much fun and got so much more out of it. I'm sure he will still have behavioral issues in settings like these, but he passed a big test this summer and we're super proud of him.
