Where Everybody Knows His Name

A big part of our survival strategy for two preteens, a rowdy toddler, and two hard jobs is to make the
most of the YMCA's child watch program, which is that at just about every Y in the country you can drop your kid off for up to two hours and go work out while they get to play with toys and get read books.  Two hours where our Asher gets free run of a space designed for kids and we are free to exercise?  Sign us up!  In fact, I've been known, when Asher's nap schedule breaks just right, to hit multiple Y's in one day, just to get some free time (one of the workouts will be a real one and the second one will just be me walking slow on a treadmill or riding a seated bike while watching TV).

Great for the sanity of the adult no doubt, and not so bad for keeping an old body in shape too.  But it's fun how much fun Asher has at child watch.  There are four different Y's in our broader region where he has been multiple times, to the point where he recognizes the places and even the people, and they know him by name without having to look it up.  Even if circumstance brings us to a brand new Y, he recognizes enough to be totally fine doing his thing and knowing we'll be back to pick him up.  That's what I call win-win.
