1st Report Card

Jada and Aaron had parent-teacher conferences this past week.  (Mercifully, the school now knows to schedule them back to back for our convenience.)

Jada got 6 A's, 2 B's (Math, Reading), and a C (Writing).  She continues to need reminders to slow down (I can relate) and to be focused when it's a quiz (a quirk of her developmental delays).  I want to work with her more on writing, so that she writes more and explores more styles.  We're pleased she is holding her own socially, as that is an area of past weakness that she is learning to overcome.

Aaron got 5 A's and 4 B's (Reading, Writing, Oral, Social Studies).  He is a hard worker but needs encouragement to not get frustrated when he gets stuck on something.  He is good at marshaling multiple tools to solve math problems.  He's now a voracious reader, but needs to slow down to get the nuances of what's going on.

There's a lot here to be proud of and a lot to work on.  Story of our lives as parents.  Amy and I were both very hard workers and very good students in school.  Jada and Aaron are getting there.  Our challenge is to help them get there, and to do so in ways that help them flourish and be internally motivated to do so.
