Sleepover Party
We survived the slumber party.
For Jada's birthday, we invited seven girls over, and five were able to make it. We did takeout Chinese for dinner and walked to a nearby ice cream parlor for dessert. Phones were confiscated at 9 and lights out was at 10, although Amy and I detected chatter for several hours after.
The next morning, over a breakfast of chocolate chip pancakes, sunny side up eggs, bacon, grilled cheese sandwiches, and fruit smoothies, we got the skinny on who fell asleep first, who woke up the latest, and what they did in between.
In case you're wondering, Aaron had an uneven night. He despised all the hubbub and not being able to join in, but then exacted some revenge by generally being nosy and raising ruckus himself. Ah, the plight of the little brother...
10 is a really fun age, and we're so blessed Jada has such good friends. They talked about Taylor Swift and the Kardashians, but also about stuffed animals and Legos. They trashed her room, but then cleaned up after. (And then, just to prove that they are in fact 10-year-old girls, subsequently made it messy all over.)
They're all really good kids, doing well in school and respectful of each other and of others. Amy and I are so thankful for Jada and for the pals she gets to pal around with.
