Jada's first day of kindergarten was such a whirlwind that, at her request, I accompanied her again the next morning into the cafeteria. This time, I hung back and waited for her to figure out what to do next: find a seat, put stuff down, line up, get food, punch in access code, sit down, eat, throw away trash, and line up outside. A couple of times I had to correct her, but by and large she seemed to gain confidence that she could do this. Monday morning she flies solo. Every day she grows up a little more.
