Learning to Swim
Could the floaties at the lake have given Jada enough confidence to learn how to swim? It could be. After being so afraid of sinking that any water time meant clinging to one of us, Jada spent a whole afternoon dog paddling around in the lake at my boss' house earlier this summer, secured by a life vest that kept her afloat. Now that she feels less fear, she is trying out the doggy paddle sans vest. Last night, Amy took the kids to the local swim club where our friends are members, and Jada did just that . . . and did pretty good. Like riding a bike, all it takes is a little technique and a lot of confidence; and Jada is gaining in the latter as she tries to learn more of the former.
