The pacifier weaning progresses slowly but surely. Aaron has known for a while now that there are certain times and places that he doesn't get the pacifier: at school, in the bathtub, and when we're reading books. So I've been systematically adding the times and places. Now he gets no pacifier to and from school. There has been howling but it is abating. With each new time and place, there will be howling, but eventually he'll be completely pacifier-free. Just in time to exchange it for a mouth guard on the football field, right?
