Date Night

I'm embarrassed to say how long it's been since Amy and I did a date night. But this past weekend we were able to secure babysitting services and steal away for an afternoon and early evening of "just us two" time.

We decided to first hit the batting cages to unleash some pent-up aggression, and then showed our softer, domesticated side by visiting a strip mall where we window shopped at Target for home furnishing knick-knacks and Michael's for knitting supplies. Finally, we luxuriated at an all-you-can-eat soup and salad place, grateful for the freedom to eat our meal without the constant distractions of breaking up fights, cleaning up spilt beverages, and negotiating about the consumption of vegetables. I even got a goodnight kiss on the front porch!

We made it home just in time for baths and bedtimes, missing our kids and glad to be home, but also glad for the time away. We must do this again some time soon.
