Lights On

Like every night, Amy and I were safely tucked in bed well before
midnight last night. So guess who was the first person in the
household to ring in the New Year? This morning, Amy told me it was
Jada.

I had put her to bed at 7:30 and she was out shortly thereafter,
thanks in part to me running her around in the morning and Amy running
her around in the afternoon. And yet, less than a half-hour into
2008, Amy awoke to Jada crying out, "Lights on!" Apparently she
wouldn't settle back into her bed until Amy went downstairs and turned
her bedroom light back on.

She went back to sleep, but then awoke at 6, as is her pattern lately,
and has been wide-eyed and bushy-tailed since then. Meanwhile, her
brother doesn't seem to be in any hurry to see what all the fuss is
about 2008; he's still snoozing as of 7.
