"You Have a Baby Girl"

I got the call this afternoon from our adoption agency. In the half-second between the time the phone rang and I answered, a flood of emotions: "Am I about to become a dad?" "What if they tell us our application has been denied?" "This little person who is about to become so important to me, who I know absolutely nothing about, what can you tell me about her?"

As soon as I heard the words, "I have good news for you," I exhaled. The next words I heard were, "You have a baby girl." She was born in February and goes by the name, "Wei." Her medical report says she's healthy and normal. We'll be going to China in 4-6 weeks to meet her. Amy and I can't wait.
