I'm sure every family has their made-up words and phrases, which are otherwise incomprehensible to the outside world. I know we do. I'll leave the full dictionary for another time, but one phrase which I like is "second breakfast," which actually has two meanings.
The first is if, after your regular breakfast, Mommy comes home with a big breakfast sandwich from Starbucks for you. That's "second breakfast," and no matter how much you got your money's worth with your first breakfast, there's always room if your tummy for that big breakfast sandwich.
The second is when we stay at a hotel that serves free breakfast, we often get our fill AND take a small plate back to the room. I invariably have found a local Y that I can get a workout in at while putting Asher in Kid Watch, so in those cases I'm not eating in the hotel lobby in the morning but only grabbing stuff for post-exercise. And the older kids love the leisure of having breakfast downstairs and then also being able to get something to have later in the morning.
"Second breakfast" evokes good feelings around here. What are some words and phrases your family has made up that similarly elicit a smile and a wink?
