Birthdays aren't nearly as fun when you're in your 40's. Even if you're lucky enough to get cake, you're worried about whether you should be gorging in it. And even if you're lucky enough to get to stay up, you're kind of wishing you could go to bed early. Ah, to be 4 again...But look, birthdays are still awesome times to celebrate awesome people. And my baby is celebrating her birthday today (as is her twin brother: happy birthday Matt!). While I'm getting paunchier, grayer, and achier, Amy appears to be aging in reverse.
Even better, her love - for me and for the kids - is aging better than fine wine. So hip hip hooray for Amy today!
