Yesterday we said "bon voyage" to Jada, who is traveling with Philadelphia Girls Choir to Belgium and the Netherlands to do five concerts. She has been counting down the days and is excited for her first trip to Europe. We're proud of her for working on her voice and being a good team player during her time with PGC, and eager to see pics and video (and of course her, when she returns home!).
In the meantime, I commend to you some poems on her blog, which you can find here. As you know, during the summer I like to assign extra work to the kids to keep their minds sharp even as they are away from the classroom and out in the world. This year's writing assignments are all poetry-related. I myself am not big into poetry, but I do recognize its benefit as a free-form way of expression. As you read Jada's poems, see if you can figure out what prompts I gave her and what the resulting poems say about her personality.
