West Coast Swing, Day 4

Our second day on the train took us through the northern half of California in the morning.  We had a scant 10 minutes in Oakland, just enough for me to buy lunch and snacks at a nearby deli, and less than 10 minutes in San Jose, for a quick call to my parents.  The late afternoon brought us to a particularly scenic stretch, between San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara, where we hugged up against the Pacific Ocean and I took about 100 pictures.

We made up almost all of our two-hour delay in Oregon but still rolled into Burbank very late.  It was a 10-minute walk to the hotel and off to bed.  Thanks, Amtrak, for another memorable and relaxing ride, but it's good to be in Southern California and a busy day of sightseeing awaits!
