A Mystical Weekend

Wow. Words can't describe the bonanza that was our weekend in Mystic. My cousin Pauline finally tied the knot with her long-time partner Mike, and threw a couple of parties to end all parties to celebrate the occasion. The first was at the Mystic Aquarium, which made for a great setting for hors d'oeuvres, cocktails, and dinner.

The second was an incredible shindig at their house near downtown Mystic, which had enough room for countless areas for kid activities (moon bounce, tattoos, balloon animals, Guitar Hero, movies, ping pong) and adult activities (open bar, dinner hall, dance floor). We had a blast socializing with our cousins for a third straight weekend, taking funny pictures in the photo booth, and reveling in all the good food.

In between these two great parties was other family fun. We walked around the downtown area, ate at Mystic Pizza (made famous by the Julia Roberts movie of the same name), and got our money's worth at the hotel pool and buffet breakfast. As a bonus, we had booked a two-room suite (two bedrooms, one living area) but they didn't have any available the weekend of, so they gave us adjoining one-room suites (two bedrooms, two living areas), which made for a goodly amount of space for our brood.

Alas, the weekend finally had to come to an end and we bid adieu to our cousins. But not without making note to scheme about our next big gathering. Although I'm not sure we'll ever be able to beat this weekend.
