Toy Story
With company coming over, including seven other kids, Amy and I took the opportunity to significantly consolidate our toy inventory. It was a great snow day activity, although our original plan - to have the kids help us sort into "keep," "toss," and "give away" - quickly took a back seat once we realized they wanted to keep everything and were having trouble distinguishing between the three piles. No matter: as they busied themselves with playing with toys they hadn't seen in months, we hauled away five trash bags worth of toys down the street to the thrift store, being mindful to tell the kids why we were doing this in the first place.
Even after all that effort, the house is still littered with toys; the picture you see here is not "before" but "after." And, Jada in particular was set on salvaging some items to keep for herself. But hopefully, other families will derive some enjoyment out of the items that are no longer in our house.
