Magic Hours

During the week, the kids are really actually home and awake for only one hour in the morning and another hour in the evening. But what an hour those time slots are:

Morning - wake up, put on clothes, clean up room, eat breakfast, clean up kitchen, put on shoes, and out the door.

Evening - get home, take off shoes, eat dinner, clean up kitchen, take baths, clean up bathroom, bedtime stories, and see you in the morning.

Of course, if I were to document all the nuances and idiosyncrasies of each of those elements, this post would be much, much longer. How they can cram in so many rituals and routines into 60 short minutes is beyond me. All I know is that the weekend is a nice change of pace . . . when, instead of one morning hour and one evening hour, it's usually two each. OK, so we like to keep our kids busy.
