Having just turned 14 months old, Jada is now entering that dreaded
"tantrum phase" that the books say happens around 1 ½ to 2 years old,
where toddies start to assert their independence in ways that make us
parents look bad in the middle of Target. So far, Jada's been
practicing the "full body limp," where she becomes dead weight when we
need to go somewhere and she wants to stay right where she is, and the
"flutter kick," when she wants the bottle of warm milk even though
Dada thinks a change of diaper would be a good thing to do before
that. She is certainly not a timid creature, which we love because it
is so special to see her be so assertive and courageous wherever she
goes, but which we know means the tantrums she'll have might very well
be quite spectacular. Well, I'm thinking we won't have to wait long
for the real fireworks.
