More Administrivia

I shlepped Jada eight blocks to the Social Security office this morning to apply for a Social Security number.  We had to show our proof of adoption, which we got in China, and her citizenship certificate, which we got in the mail last week.  The woman that helped me was nice.  She said the rules for foreign adoptions had recently changed, so I was her guinea pig.  We passed.  We'll get the Social Security card in about two weeks.

I also left a message with our lawyer to help us file a Petition for Adoption.  Currently, not all 50 states legally accept foreign adoptions.  So technically, what we'd be doing is readopting Jada, and having that adoption be authenticated by a judge here in Pennsylvania.  That adoption would then be recognized by all 50 states.
