Another Sleepless Night
If we were in China, Jada’s sleep schedule would be perfect: fall asleep at 11:00 at night, wake up at 7:00 in the morning, have a few naps in the middle of the day, and otherwise be playful and happy. Only we’re on China time but not in China. Philadelphia is exactly twelve hours’ difference from Nanchang and Guangzhou, the two cities we were in earlier this month. So that means Jada fell asleep at 11:00 this morning, after keeping her daddy up all night being first wired and second wriggly. And that means that in the middle of the night in Philly tonight, she’s still squirming around like it’s the middle of the day. I am not one to do all-nighters, not even when I was younger and could bounce back more quickly. So I’m feeling that feeling of mania and despondency, where your sleep deprivation makes you think crazy thoughts and you wonder if you’re ever going to sleep for eight hours on your back in a bed again. Good times for blogging, but not great for one’s overall health. Tomorrow, the grandparents return, and like reinforcements in a battle, I am sure when they arrive I will be relieved.
